With a lifelong passion for working with children, I bring over 20 years of experience in education and youth services to my role as Supervisor of the Families 2000 Home Visiting Program. Before stepping into this position, I served as a home visitor for a year and have worked with children in many capacities, from church programs and daycare centers to after-school programs, summer camps, and public education.

I've spent five years as a substitute teacher, 15 years as a teacher assistant with District 150, and I also served as a Full-Service Community School Coordinator. I’m a proud parent myself, and I truly believe in the power of love, support, and direction in shaping a child's future.

It takes a village to raise strong, resilient, and empowered children, and I’m honored to be part of that village, supporting families and helping every child grow into their full potential.

My name is Porshia. I have been in the education field for over 15 years, so working with children is my thing!  My passion for parent education continues to grow because it makes teaching easier down the line! Education really does start in the home first, so it only makes sense to start with the parents! When we equip parents with the necessary knowledge and tools, it really helps to build stronger bonds with our children, families, communities, and ultimately better our future! I enjoy spending time with my daughter, family, and friends. In my spare time, I write and direct stage plays and films.

Hey, my name is Tahja Wright, and I’ve been working with Families 2000 for about a year now. I have been working with children for over 4 years, including my time as a parent educator. I am a mother to my amazing 4-year-old boy and a college student. I enjoy doing crafts as well as DIY activities and playing with my son. I love that I get to work with the parents and the children with this job because it starts at home. I love that I can make a difference in both their lives.
